May - June 2006
Read MoreJune 25, 2006 Another school year has come to a close! I succeeded in getting my classroom moved. My nice big Gr. 2 room will be the Best Start classroom for next year. This is good because John will be able to stay at St. Joseph's all day long. He will be in Junior Kindergarten with Miss Fenton in the morning, and then attend best start with some of the city daycare staff in the p.m. John was excited to be done daycare (not sure why). Yesterday the daycare had it's 30th birthday party and John had lots of fun playing with his friends. There was a petting zoo, pony rides, goop, entertainment etc. They all sang a cute little song (John sat, but didn't sing, but hey....he didn't cry!) Uncle Brad was here for a visit. John really took to him the first day, however, he became his usual shy self the next few times around him. It was cute. He was playing with some neighbour kids and he wanted them to all come and see his Uncle Brad. None of the kids wanted to, however! June 11, 2006 John has decided he's afraid of monsters. He had a bad dream a couple of weeks back and from then on, he's been afraid to sleep in his room. I tried to get him there for a good two weeks straight, however, he's back to sleeping in the big bed again! We've been busy going to the park and doing things outside. He's very good friends with a little boy named Aiden from daycare. He's played with him a couple of times at the park now and yesterday, Aiden came to our house for a bit. He didn't make strange with me, so perhaps John will be able to play with him more. Only 2 more weeks of school. I have to change classrooms again as my classroom will be the Best Start daycare room for next year. Such is life! He's grown a lot again! He's 3' 5" now! May 24, 2006 John has the chicken pox. Not really surprising, since pretty near all the kids at daycare have it as well as a huge population in the schools as well. So, it's no daycare this week and daddy and gramma have been looking after Mr. Itchy. I got a sum total of 2 hours of sleep last night because he was so itchy. At 3 a.m. I was applying calamine lotion to all of the spots. He continues to have problems using good words and will cling on to any word that is inappropriate. You just have him stop saying the "f" word and then it's stupid or something like that. It's frustrating and hard to deal with. We tried an incentive chart last week at daycare, which did help some. This week it's hard to deal with a crabby kid. He's eating a few more foods now...hamburgers and perogies (the kid has taste). I made him eggs sunny-side up, like Max, however, he didn't like them. May 7, 2006 The weather has been very confused lately, which is confusing John. The other day it was hot and then the next day there was snow on the ground! I told him the weather just basically got mixed up. He finally agreed to let me give him a buzz cut, thank God, because his hair was looking so chopped up because he won't sit still to let me cut it, nor will he let the hairdresser do it. He's finally getting the hang of his two-wheeler (enja turtle - ninja turtle) bike. He's practising on Andrew and Irene's driveway which is way safer than on the sidewalk. There's not too much new. We're working at getting his toy room organized and I've been buying bins and things to sort his toys into. His interest with fruits and veggies continues and I always have to be on him to leave my stuff alone. Today he convinced me to buy a papaya and I'm not even sure I like them! Do to my own fault, I lost the April entry. My appologies. © 2006 Derek Kennedy
