March - April 2007
Read MoreApril 15,2007 On Friday, we celebrated the fourth anniversary of John's heart surgery. We had a Dairy Queen ice cream cake (Scooby Doo with hearts) at our friends' house. John took his teddy bear and pictures to school and showed his class. He was very proud of what he'd been through. We keep spending money. We bought a new couch and chair for the upstairs now. It was a good sale item and our current loveseat has broken springs. It's been nicer weather out. John wants to spend every waking moment at the park. We went to the park twice this weekend. April 9, 2007 Happy Easter to everyone! We had a very nice Easter. John did not have a great weekend behavior-wise…way too worked up. Grandma looked after him on Saturday and he was so bad at the restaurant that he made her cry. Needless to say, he didn’t get to go and see the animals at the petting zoo. He spent time in his room and was grounded for the rest of the day. He was a little worried that the Easter Bunny wouldn’t be visiting. He did have a great time looking for Easter eggs (way too much candy). We hosted Easter Brunch this year. Wade, Cindy, Marla, Daniel (Marla’s boyfriend), Mom, Wilson and Auntie Shirley came over. It was a nice morning. John liked playing with Daniel and wants him to come and play again soon :) John has his first loose tooth. Not sure if it was supposed to come loose yet or not. He was trying to take a lego out with his mouth and it sprung loose. He was very frightened at first, but now is just waiting for it to come out so that the tooth fairy will pay a visit. We have been overhauling the basement in preparation for a 42 inch plasma t.v. that should arrive some time this week. Derek dismantled the train room and it became the computer room/Derek’s workshop. We’ve ordered a sectional couch for the rec. room, along with a DVD organizer, end tables a coffee table etc. We bought a small fridge to house the drinks and a new bookshelf for my crystal etc. April 1, 2007 Today was the easter egg hunt at the public library. John was very shy at first but quickly got into the swing of things. He came home with a jumbo bag of easter eggs. He's very excited about the Easter Bunny coming next weekend. It's been mud city at Best Start this week. I've had to wash his clothes every single night because it's been so bad. He's had his bike out once so far. He's going to get the hang of it much faster this year. March 27,2007 Friday of last week was report card day. John generally got a good report card..beginning to develop in some of the socials skills and writing. He's very hard on himself when it comes to writing. I tried to do some letters with him tonight, but when they don't turn out like he wants, he gets very frustrated about it. It's been really hard keeping him dry at school now that it's spring. He just gets absolutely soaked. On Friday we went to the Nerino's for a visit. Rachel from JK was supposed to come over too, but didn't end up coming. John was very devastated so Christie baked chocolate chip cookies with him. John got some nice Easter things from Grandma Memory. He enjoyed learning the game Crazy Eights and even let me win without fussing too much. On Sunday we are going to an egg hunt at the library and I'm getting ready for our family Easter Brunch. Should be yummy. March 15, 2007 It's been a busy March Break. We've painted our kitchen and it looks great. It's a lovely colour called "Creme Fraiche". John has been busy doing lots of activities. He went skating at the big arena, went swimming at the pool and went bowling with Best Start today while I finished painting the kitchen. He was very excited about it! I was a bit worried that March Break would be horrible because John had a 12 hour stomach virus which started on Saturday night. He was puking and pooping all night long. It was unfortunate that he had to miss Brody's birthday party because they live in Eagle River and I was worried about the car ride. Friday the 9th marked 100 days of JK! John's JK teacher Ms. Fenton had lots of activities for the kids to enjoy. Several parents came by to have fun with their kids as well. John had lots of fun with Dad at all of the different activity centers. John also wore the shirt Mom had placed 100 buttons on. Occasionally a button would fall off from all of his jumping and running around. We've also been to toy library two times. March 3, 2007 John is still enjoying skating. We went a couple of times this week and he can really zip along with the chair. Now to tackle getting his balance! He's always a bit nervous at the beginning of the skating session, but when he gets the hang of it, he can really move. We've let our membership to the Best Western go and are using the Recreation Complex instead. They certainly have more for the kids to do with respect to toys, pool noodles, etc. Grandma is giving John a $4.00 per week allowance. He still wants to spend our money though and save his own loonies and toonies! He bought a remote control car today, however he didn't want to cough up the cash to pay for it. Friday is the 100th day of JK. I put 100 buttons on a shirt for John to wear! Should be fun! One more week until March Break! Top © 2007 Derek Kennedy
