Spike cleaning herself.

Canon 40D digital SLR with a Carl Zeiss Planar T* 80mm f2.8 lens (from my Hasselblad 500 c/m - lens made in 1972). Aperture set on the lens to f2.8 and manual focused - hard to do without the Hasselblads split screen to focus and no focus lock to tell me if the image is 100% in focus.

Camera set to 1/60th of a second, and the on board flash used.

Photoshop CS4 black and white filter to achieve this look.
